About Me

I'm a 12-year U.S. Air Force Veteran with broad experience across government finance, network & system operations, training, and cybersecurity. I found myself being drawn to the world of GRC because I like having clear guidelines, policies, and operating within frameworks. I like the idea of guardrails because while most people see them as barriers, I see them as protective freedom. They give us a clear line of where we shouldn't be going, while giving us the freedom to operate within those boundaries. Understanding where those boundaries are and why they exist unlocks the creativity necessary to find new ways to solve problems.

I'm currently working getting my blog up and running, which focuses on Compliance, AI, and Education - three topics I care about deeply, but with a more neurodivergent take. I believe the way we frame problems affect our ability to see various solutions and take the appropriate actions to solve them. Through my blog and other work, I hope to shed more light on those things and show how the field of GRC can be a place where neurodivergent individuals can shine in their own way.

One of the things I'm passionate about in the GRC field is training and development. I joined the Air Force because I wanted to go to school to become a teacher. I love the process of learning, teaching, and mentoring others. Throughout my career, what mattered most to me wasn't awards or decorations, but seeing my airmen grow in ways that challenged them to be more capable than they were the day before. Finding ways to help their lightbulb light up that was unique to them. I believe there's an opportunity here within the GRC field for me to make an impact.

I'm looking forward to learning from the GRC community, brainstorming crazy solutions to complex problems, and building more education content for those looking to break into the field, as well as those who have been living in spreadsheets and seven different tools that feel there's a better way to do things.
